Our first conference was held on 13 October 2022 at our Ofsted outstanding academy, Trinity Academy Halifax. This exciting event saw all of our Eco-Committee Members gathered from five local authorities and from year groups one to thirteen. We welcomed a range of companies and charities to host workshops at our event, inspiring and educating our members. Some of these guests included Tesla, Planet Mark, Cargodale, Calderdale Council, and more.

The event began with a welcome from the Trust CEO, Michael Gosling, followed by an inspirational speech from Emma Hanlon-Gosling, the director of Trinity MAT Earthshot. MAT students took to the stage and performed A Decade of Expression through Dance, Speech, Poetry, and Song. Each Eco-Committee Member received a Tote gift bag that included their very own Earthshot T-shirt, reusable water bottle, recycled notepad and eco pen. A Speak Out Hub provided space for students to document the issues their committees have been tackling since this initiative was launched in February.

White Rose Maths, our TMAT initiative, made an exciting announcement as they pledged an incredible £30k towards the TMAT Earthshot Prize competition. This generous donation will see the winning Eco-Committee take home £15,000 towards their academies committee ventures, with £10,000 going to the second prize winners and £5,000 to the third. The first conference marks the beginning of a long and powerful journey our MAT is embracing as we all strive to repair our planet.

Eco-Committee Members then took part in a range of exciting and informative workshops that focused on a range of themes from electric vehicles, insect homes, clean water, flooding, global carming, clean water and the energy crisis.
